Louiey

Louiey is a wonderful Sable Merle Rough Collie. His mother is a sable and white named Dusty, and his father is a gallant Blue Merle named Thunder. Louiey got the Sable from his mum, and the merling from his dad. Louiey also got his blue eyes from his dad, as only blue merles have blue eyes.

Louiey was born on the 19th August 2004 at Highlandblue Collies, Elora. He had two other brothers, and three other sisters. He was the only sable merle in the litter. All his brothers and sisters were very dark, almost black. There were tri-factors sables. We picked Louiey when he was three weeks old, and visited him every two weeks, unable to keep away from him.

While we were waiting for Louiey, we learnt about grooming and training. We made our house “puppy proof”. We moved all the objects with could hurt the puppy, or which the puppy could hurt to a safer place.

When Louiey arrives, he settled in immediately. He liked everything apart from his crate. After two days, though, we managed to make him love it. We started training him immediately from excitement, as he was our first dog. Louiey started to learn from the age of 8 weeks. He learnt quickly, and this also helped him understand what we were trying to say to him through body language. He only did his business twice inside the house, which I am very happy about. He caught on quickly, and sat barking at the door when he needed to go out.

I think we did a very good job on Louiey, as he is a joy to be around. He understands things we haven’t even taught him, through problem solving, which you can build up very easily in the early ages.
